ABOUT:

On the surface, Suo appears calm and laidback with a reputation for being cold and particularly serious. Unfortunately, that's not Suo. He will put himself in other people's space if they catch his interest, rather than playing it cool he imposes a sort of camaraderie on total strangers until they become friends. He seems chill even in distressing situations, smiling and cracking jokes regardless of it being tonally inappropriate, Suo loves to tease and the mood of the room typically doesn't deter him. This does often earn him withering looks from his classmates.

Suo has a talent for getting information out of others and a seemingly natural ablility to manipulate people into doing what he wants. He studies situations, often remaining quiet and passive until a response is warranted, and he's quick to dump obligations on others or avoid things he'd rather not deal with outright. When it comes to a fight, he's the one to step back and let the others handle it, opting instead to protect noncombatants from attack and watching his friends for weak spots.

His fighting style reflects his personality well, a mixed martial arts technique that heavily leans into evasive side stepping and essentially allowing his opponent to beat themselves. Suo fights defensively as long as he's keeping his cool and approaching with a level head. Even this demonstrates his habit of teasing others, showing zero remorse for humiliating an opponent inferior to him and later treating that same person casually as if they're on friendly terms. Suo's serenity operates to cover up his true inner self, no one can get a proper read on him, with Umemiya suggesting he's a true gentleman while Sakura counters he's absolutely not based on the way he fights.

Suo has strong convictions, he believes firmly in empathy and taking the feeling of others into account, he also demonstrates no patience for those with no interest in doing so. His limited range of emotion slips when he feels that his friends are being threatened, both when it comes to protecting Nirei physically and defending Sakura's position as a member of Bofurin. Suo cares deeply about his friends and that is reflected in full force with the way his artful dodging gets traded for crushing blows, suggesting an underlying rage beneath the surface of his cool exterior.
